At Imperial College, you won’t see education solely in terms of books and lectures. Learning at Imperial takes place in the streets as well as the classrooms, during lunch as well as in the library – it’s a process of absorption, experience and adaptation. You will find an environment where all of this is made possible. Imperial emphasises as much on Life Skills as we do on Work Skills. The focus is on helping youngsters build the right communication skill-sets using a variety of tools – tools that help students pickup and practice on their communication skills.
Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of discipline and dignified manner of behavior inside as well as outside the College campus.
Students are expected to make use of academic, co-curricular and extracurricular facilities available to the optimum levels. This will certainly make them physically fit, academically competent, mentally alert and socially sensitive.
All the students shall wear their identity cards, well displayed and are expected to be present in the class well within time.
Students are refrained to ask any kind of administrative queries to the teachers.
All the students shall appear the internal examinations as per schedule; complete the Sambalpur University Examination form fill up process in time.
Students are expected to pay their fees in time.
Students are self-responsible for applying for Prerana Scholarship by Government.
Carefully handle the furniture, equipment, fixtures and appliances of the college and lab. Careless handling/misuse of the above could result personal injuries or damage to property. Follow safety precautions near moving machines and electrical installations.
Any act which obstructs teaching, research, administrative activity and other proceedings of the college is strictly prohibited. Use of Cell phones is strictly prohibited during class hour.
Misbehavior towards juniors, girl students, use of threat or violence against members of the staff or fellow students will be considered as very serious cases of misconduct.
Chewing paan, or any other tobacco products, smoking or consumption of any other intoxicating products is strictly prohibited.
Residence Hall
A resident is required to disclose all past medical history. Any nondisclosure of past medical history is at the risk of the student.
Room allotment shall be done by the authorities Residents shall not interchange their room with another vacant room/bed without prior permission from the authority. The authority has the right to shift any student from his/her room to another room in the hostel.
Students who have already opted for sharing occupancy shall not stay alone in the same room in the event of his/her co-occupant being discontinues the use of hostel facility for whatsoever reasons. In such instances the hostel in-charge has the authority to shift the existing resident to another room.
All furniture and fixture in the rooms allotted to the resident must be cared for property. Residents are prohibited from interchanging any furniture/future from one point/location in the hostel to another.
Staying in hostel during class hour is not allowed.
Water and electricity are scarce resources. Residents are advised to ensure that all electrical switches are turned off and that water taps and faucets are firmly closed while not in use
Clothes should be dried outside the rooms to avoid bad smell and unhygienic in the rooms
Strict silence shall be observed in hostel from 10.30 PM to 6:00 AM. Care shall be taken at all times to ensure that music/loud talking is NOT audible outside the room.
Residents are requested not to take wet foods/cooked foods to room to keep rodents away. Only sick meals can be served in the room. Cooking of any kind of food in the residence hall is not permitted.
Online shopping/food delivery is strictly prohibited.
The residents shall treat the staff, housekeeping staff, canteen staff of the Hostel with due courtesy at all times. All residents are required to maintain standards of behaviour expected of residents of a prestigious institution. They are expected to behave courteously and fairly with every one inside and outside the Hostel & Imperial College campus.
Residents are advised not to keep valuables in the hostel. The student is personally responsible for safety of their all valuables.
The residents shall keep their rooms, corridor and surrounding areas tidy, neat and clean at all times and shall not throw anything including trash in such places or any premises in the hostel, except in the dustbin or the place specifically provided for the said purpose.
Residents should use torch light during night time while moving in the campus.
Residents are allowed to go for outing on holidays and Sundays of their own or as per the instructions of the parent/guardian. They must return to the hostel before 4.30 PM.
Residents are requested to follow the outing guidelines as set by the college from time to time.
No resident shall take any visitor including her/his parents to the room. The visit of boys to the girls' hostel and vice-versa is restricted.
Any manner of festivities and noise making/celebrations, which may cause disturbance to other inmates in the hostel premises, will not be allowed.
The hostel management along with student representatives are responsible for taking care of the health-related issues of student resident until the preliminary treatment is completed. In case of a medical emergency, the student resident are advised to reach the nearest hospital or a doctor for further treatment and the local guardian or parent be informed immediately. The local guardian or parent will have to take care of hospitalization expenses thereafter and the entire responsibility for treatment and related expenses will have to be borne by the parents or local guardian, in case of contagious health problems, the student resident must vacate the hostels and will reside either in the parents' home or at that of the local guardian.
During the summer vacation, students should take all their belongings with them.A student shall have to vacate the hostel within five days of completion of examination or any such academic requirement, whichever is later.
The college authority may at their discretion inspect /check any room or resident's belongings living there in any time of the day or night. Workers/electrician etc. can visit the girls' rooms only with the prior permission of the authority and after getting the affirmation from the girl residents.
If any common property is lost/damaged/disfigured, the loss will be recovered from the students in equal share, who are responsible for the damage or loss or in general use of that property. In case the damage/loss cannot be pinpointed to anyone, then collective fine to recover the loss will be levied. In addition to penalties, punishment and fine provided in these Rules, disciplinary action as per institute shall be taken against student violating these Hostel Rules and Regulations.
Possession or consumption of alcohol, tobacco products etc. and non-vegetarian foods will lead to immediate expulsion from the hostel.
In case of indiscipline especially with respect to point nos. 4 to 11, Rs.300 fine will be imposed for every such instance. If a resident still repeats the indiscipline multiple times, authority has the right to ask the resident to leave the hostel.
In case residents having any suggestions, grievances, need to communicate the same to the hostel-in-charge through their student representatives only. In case no action is taken within 7 days, it should be mailed to info@imperial.edu.in.
Mess
Meals shall be served in the dining hall of the hostel during the scheduled hours as notified from time to time.
No meal or refreshments shall be served to boarders outside the dining hall except sick meal.
Food served is unlimited except special items like sweets, raita, curd etc.
Food quantity is prepared with an estimate. If any food item is finished any day, demand for the same item will not be entertained.
Diners are requested to follow proper table manners.
Sharing of food with non-resident students not allowed.
Day scholars should not bring non-veg food in their tiffin box. It is not allowed in the dining area.
Residents shall refrain from entering the dining hall without being appropriately dressed. They should tie their hair properly for entering into the dining hall to avoid hair to be found on plates.
In no case, a resident can enter the kitchen either to collect food or to communicate any grievances regarding food with kitchen staff. The matter to be brought to Hostel & Mess Committee members only.
Residents are requested to wash their plates properly after use.
Residents are requested not to waste food. If a resident is found repeating the mistake, strict disciplinary action shall be taken.
